Feels good to be working big for Mr. Hill again. Thanks for the extra muscles @valenciaglassllc!

These pieces start with colored plates picked up from the oven. They're layered with different colors and the patterns you see are deeply sandblasted troughs through the different colors of the plate (~1/8" deep).
By squishing the large and lightly colored bubble on top, we evenly trap patterned bubbles between the large bubble and the plates.
Then, after balancing out the temperature of the plate to the larger bubble, we're able to blow out the whole form larger and add a foot before putting them in the annealer.
After cooling, a large amount of the colored bubble will be cut off and completely polished to become the lip of the bowl.

This is the artwork of of my longtime friend and collaborator Mark Hill. Mark has an amazing body of work that he has yet to share on ig. So for now, I'll show off for him. More to come!
